Mikaela Shiffrin was waiting at the hospital when Kilde came out of surgery. The American, widely considered one of the greatest skiers of all time, then traveled to Austria where she earned an emotional victory – her 94th overall World Cup win, the most in men’s or women’s skiing history – in the FIS World Cup women’s slalom. “Really, really proud of this evening,” she said, per the Olympic channel. “She just shows up, the star she is, and for me how much love she brings and how much care she brings into something that’s really, really difficult,” he said.

He's the two-time defending champion in the season-long downhill standings and a two-time medalist at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. It was the third straight day of racing on an unusually intense program at Switzerland’s most storied ski venue. The race program was criticized Saturday by star downhillers Marco Odermatt and Cyprien Sarrazin after organizers scheduled speed races on back-to-back-to-back days on an historically long course. CNN —Norwegian skier Aleksander Aamodt Kilde posted a picture from his hospital bed after suffering a “brutal” full-speed crash and being airlifted off the slopes during a World Cup downhill race in Switzerland. Medics rushed to Kilde, the 2020 overall World Cup champion, before he was airlifted to hospital by helicopter, according to Reuters. Un turist britanic este considerat sursa numărului crescut de infectări cu coronavirus din stațiunea elvețiană de schi Wengen, context în care celebra cursă de schi Lauberhorn a fost anulată, scrie BBC, citat de digi24.ro. Doar zece cazuri de infectare erau raportate până la jumătatea lunii decembrie în stațiunea Wengen, unde se desfășoară această cursa. Cel puțin 27 de cazuri de noi infectări ar avea legătură cu turistul britanic care a fost în vacanță în Wengen, au declarat specialiștii care fac anchetele epidemiologice. Turistul respectiv a fost cazat într-un hotel din Wengen. Lauberhorn este cea mai lungă cursă de coborâre din lume, viteza putând ajunge la 160 km/h.
